Meet John

John is a full-time, classically trained professional photographer serving Maryland, Washington D.C., Virginia, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and the entire East Coast. With over 20 years of experience spanning film, digital, and alternative photographic processes, he brings deep technical expertise and a passion for storytelling to every project. His custom tailored workshops, classes, and live demonstrations are sought after for their clarity, authenticity, and engaging delivery.

What drives John is the idea that his work may be admired for generations. Whether it's a photograph, a darkroom print, or a historic plate, each image is crafted with intention and care. Behind the camera, in the darkroom, in the lab, or speaking to an audience, John is in his element, exactly where he’s meant to be.

Before dedicating himself fully to photography, John spent more than two decades in the field of Information Technology. Though he found the technical challenges rewarding, the work lacked the personal and lasting impact that photography offered. Today, he finds fulfillment in blending his technical knowledge with creative expression.

Photography continues to satisfy both sides of John's nature, his love of science and his desire to make something meaningful. From digital workflows and on-site printing to chemical processes and historic techniques, he embraces the full spectrum of image making. His demonstrations often explore the chemistry, physics, and artistry behind photography’s earliest forms.

Whether it’s a tintype held by a great-grandchild, a restored collection preserved for another generation, or a student continuing a process learned in one of his workshops, John’s goal remains the same: to make images and moments that matter.
