The Salisbury Collection
We found this collection unceremoniously tossed in a decaying cardboard box in the back of a closing antique shop in Salisbury, Maryland. The box and plates had water damage and dirt and grit all throughout. I pulled one plate, carefully held it up to the light and immediately knew what this collection was.
This was a box of negatives retained by a photographer who offered orders of prints as each negative had a number scratched on the side of the emulsion.
Since our purchase, we've carefully removed every negative, dusted them off and placed them in archival sleeves where they await further cleaning, protection, high resolution scanning and final packaging to hopefully last another 100+ years.
Digital and Darkroom Contact Prints and Enlargements are available from any of these plates and all profits from purchases are put back into restoration and conservation of existing collections as well as purchases of new collections that are in need of protecting.
Viewings by appointment only.
